Paidós Launches New Fiction Imprint

Paidós, which has traditionally published nonfiction works, announced the launch of alea, an imprint focused on fiction. Editorial director Claudia Casanova said in a press release that they decided to publish fiction because “[Paidós] has covered all disciplines within the humanities with success and prestige…. We had no other [genre] to explore besides fiction.”
Under this new imprint, Paidós aims to publish foreign authors whose critically acclaimed works have not previously been available in Spanish. alea, which means “luck” in Latin, commences with translations of Charles McCarry’s Christopher’s Ghosts and Peter Temple’s The Broken Shore. Paidós, which was founded in Argentina has offices in both Spain and Latin America.
