Scholastic, NBC Universal, Corus Entertainment, and Classic Media/Big Idea joined forces with the national TV distribution systems of ION Media Networks and NBC Universal to launch QUBO, a multi-platform children’s television network. The network will broadcast in both Spanish (Telemundo) and English (iNetwork) starting this month.
Programming on QUBO will focus on inspiring kids ages four to eight to realize their full potential, encouraging them to solve problems such as overcoming fears and mastering new ideas and challenges. Programming will simultaneously promote literacy and positive values through interspersed content provided by children’s books publisher and distributor Scholastic. “Qubo's unique and innovative approach to quality children's programming builds upon the core values of reading and literacy for all children that Scholastic has championed for 85 years,” Deborah Forte, president of Scholastic Media said in a press release. “We are delighted to join our partners in providing a fun-filled bilingual media experience for children that reinforces their learning and development.”
Telemundo reaches 93 percent of U.S. Hispanic households. The television network is owned by NBC Universal.
